Planning a wedding is typically a unique and somewhat overwhelming endeavor. When it comes to organising your special day, our dedicated wedding team is available to assist you throughout the entire process.
As experts in wedding venues, our team has compiled a comprehensive list of questions to help you navigate through your discussions with your chosen venue, including some queries you might not have considered yet. General questions:
How many weddings do you hold in the hotel per day?
We only hold one wedding per day here in Ballymascanlon Hotel
Do you have a minimum number for a wedding on a Friday or Saturday?
Yes, the minimum number for a wedding on a Friday & Saturday is 150 adults
What happens if I don’t have 150 adults attend my wedding on the day?
You will be charged for a minimum of 150 adults
What is the maximum number of people that you can cater for at a wedding?
The maximum number that we can cater for in the function room is 280 people
Do you cater for civil ceremonies in the hotel?
Yes, we cater for civil ceremonies, humanist ceremonies, spiritual ceremonies & blessings in the hotel. We will show you an appropriate room suitable for your numbers for your ceremony
Can we take photographs on the grounds?
Yes – you can take photographs anywhere on the grounds apart from the golf course
If it is raining, is there a room or area in the hotel where we can take our photographs?
Yes, we will always hold a room in the main part of the hotel for you to take photos if it is raining etc
How to book your wedding & payment options:
How do we book our date with Ballymascanlon Hotel?
You will need to make an appointment to view our wedding facilities & to speak with the wedding and events team about available dates & packages for your wedding. Enquire HERE
How long can the hotel hold a provisional date for me?
We can hold a wedding date provisionally for you for 2 weeks
How much is the deposit to secure our date?
A deposit of €2000 is required to secure your wedding date
Bedroom allocation:
How many bedrooms are allocated for our wedding?
The Hotel will offer an allocation of bedrooms at a discounted rate on the night of the wedding. This allocation is subject to availability. A valid credit card is required to secure these bedrooms. Our Wedding and Events Team will be delighted to assist you with your room allocation queries.
What time is check in & check out?
Check in time is from 3pm & check out is at 12noon
Table settings, table plan, bar times etc:
What centrepieces do you provide on the tables for weddings?
We provide a choice of two centrepieces – a tall vase with flowers on a round mirror base with 3 tea lights or alternatively a tall crystal centrepiece that has a lit tealight in the centre of it which is also on a round mirror with 3 tealights
Can I bring my own centrepieces in for the tables?
Of course, you can – just check with the hotel first if you are in any doubt
What type of chairs do you provide?
We have gold chivari chairs
Can I hire my own chairs, cloths etc in from another company if I wish?
Yes you can hire in your own chairs if you wish
Can you type up our table plan if we need you to?
Yes, we can type up your table plan for you if you wish. You will need to have it to us at least 2 days before your wedding
How can we display our table plan?
We have a tall free standing white mirror that you can use for your table plan cards and we have an easel you can use if your table plan is on a board.
Is there a dedicated manager assigned to us for our wedding day?
Yes, there is a manager assigned to you on the day of your wedding who will be with you all day and who will guide you in what has to be done at what time
How many people can sit around a table?
A maximum of 12 people can sit comfortably around a table
Do you have different options for the top table?
You can have a long top table on or off a stage which seats a max of 16 guests. Alternatively, if you would like a more informal top table we can provide you with an oval table which holds up to 14 people
Do you charge for speeches before the meal?
No, we do not charge for speeches to take place before the meal
Can we have speeches after our starter has been served or after each course?
The speeches are either before the meal or else after the meal – we don’t allow speeches between each course
What time does the bar close at in the function room?
The bar closes at 1.30am in the function room
What time is dinner served?
The latest time for dinner is 5.30pm.
What time does the band start?
The band starts around 9pm & they should be in the hotel at 7.30pm ready to set up
What time is the evening food served?
The evening food is served at 10.30pm
Is the evening food served on a buffet table or to every table in the room?
The evening food is served to every table in the room & also on the bar counter
What time does the DJ have to finish?
The DJ/band must finish at 2am
Is there a resident’s bar in the hotel?
Yes, there is a resident’s bar in the hotel until 3am
Menu tasting & final numbers:
Do you provide a menu tasting complimentary for the wedding couple?
Yes, menu tasting will take place approximately 8-10 weeks prior to your wedding day
When do we have our menu tasting & how do we arrange it?
The wedding team will be in touch to arrange your menu tasting.
When do we need to give our final numbers for our wedding?
Final numbers are required 72 hours prior to your wedding day

I am not getting married at Ballymascanlon Hotel, can we use the grounds for our wedding photography?
Should you wish to capture your cherished moments within our beautiful grounds and house, we request that you obtain prior approval. Please contact us at info@ballymascanlon.com in advance to secure your photography session or to hear more about our photography policy. A fee of €350 applies.
